Charity : Water
07.14.09

Robert sent me a link to this New York Times piece on charity: water. You should read it.

When you've finished reading it, watch this video.

I'm pretty blown away - by the charity itself, by the story of its founder, by its communications, by everything.

I spoke with Robert today about the prospectus I'm working on for the forthcoming capital campaign, and we had a long discussion about philanthropy and what inspires people to donate their hard-earned money towards a given cause.

The answer is complicated, of course. But whatever it is, charity: water is doing it, and doing it extraordinarily well.

I don't think I've been this moved by a solicitation since the first time I saw MIT's Campaign For Students video.

Responses To This Entry:

I was going to buy one of their bpa water bottles the other day + provide two people with water for 20 years! But then it was going to cost $45 and I couldn't bring myself to do it. Eeeep, but I will eventually!
